Answers

  1. How do I navigate the site?
Navigating The Woodsmith's Store website is easy. On the left hand side of the Home page you will see a product catagory list, roll down the list until you reach the subcatagory you are interested in. Clicking on this bring up a new page.  To go back use your back button or use the menu on the LHS
  2. How do I place an order?
Go to the product you want to buy, if you want to buy more than one enter the number in the small white box, click  ADD TO TOOLBOX  follow the instructions on the screen
  3. How secure are payments with The Woodsmith Store?

All our payments are handled by an industry standard payment gateway known as PROTX, more information about this can be found on the protx website.

This website takes precautions to protact users' information.  When sensitive information is submitted via the website, that information is encrypted and protected with an SSL encryption system.  Once an order is recieved, the payment details are erased.  The servers on which we collect and store personal information are kept in a secure environment.

  4. I want to buy an axe, how do I best decide with such a choice?
E-mail me describing what it is you want an axe to do, and I'll do my best to advise.  The more information you can give the better, for example if you want a split firewood, describe the average size of rings you will be splitting and also the range of species you can expect to encounter
  5. What tools and books will best equip me to carve small items such as spoons?
Pretty much all of the axes in the Gransfors Bruks Carving Axe range of axes will shape the basic blank for a spoon. The Swedish carving axe is quite weighty but is well designed to do fine work.  The Middle Carving Axe and the Small Carving Axe have much finer bits and are much lighter allowing great control but perhaps don't have the all-round ability of the Swedish Carving Axe.  If it is your intention to do mainly small finer work such as spoons the Middle Carving Axe and/or the Small Carving Axe will be best.
