This type of axe was an essential tool used for boat building and in the contsruction of Viking buildings (skiftesverkhus) which were built using horizontal boards

A Gransfors Bruks axe based on a Swedish axe developed during the 7th century.
A small part of Gransfors Bruks' production consists of the forging of a series of replica axes, our current stock is made by female axesmith Ulrika Stridsberg.
Axes come with 20 year quarantee, 'The Axe Book' and 'Ancient Axes of Northern Europe'

Additional notes
This hand forged replica is based on an 11th century axe found inGothem on the island of Gotland. The original axe is exhibited at the Museum of National Antiquities in Stockholm. The Gransfors logo is absent on the handle
