Gransfors Bruks Large Carving Axe, right handed
Ideal for quickly removing wood for bowl blanks, billets for the pole lathe and most other projects.
Product Description
Different to most other axes due to the curved shape of the edge which is carried well above and backwards towards the head's eye which induces an effcient slicing action. The robust bit and the big angle of the wide bevelled face makes this a formidable carving tool. This new axe pattern, based on old Swedish carving techniques, was developed by Wille Sundqvist who came to teach a spoons course and a bowls course at our workshop in 2002. The hickory handle is rugged for a good grip.
Ground with a long bevel on the left hand side and a short bevel on the right, making this a handed axe only suitable for right handed use.

Head weighs 2lbs, 4.33" bit, 14" faceted hickory handle. Comes with a grain leather sheath and the Axe Book and 20 year guarentee
Additional notes
In our opinion this is a great all round axe for green woodcraft, and for most people a very useful weight. Because of the long left bevel of this axe it will 'bite' in the wood very quickly, equally able to remove a lot of wood very quickly or remove fine shavings accuratly.
