Product Description

Perhaps the standard splitting axe, designed to split most 'rounds'. The bit is quite thin to begin with to make a start in the log then the concave wedge shaped head powers apart the grain of the wood.

Product Specification

Head weighs 3.5Ibs, the face is 3" and the axe has a 27" hickory handle with circular grooves at the grip. There is a steel collar below the head to reduce damage to the handle when overshoot occurs. Comes with a grain leather sheath, a twenty year guarentee, and the Axe Book.

Additional notes

The poll is not designed for pounding on a wedge. Unlike many splitting axes the cheeks on Gransfors axes are concave and a farily sharp thin bit, once this enters the log the concave cheeks quickly became thicker busting the log effortlessly apart.
