In our own business we use steel (and wooden) wedges to split butts of oak for riven oak fencing and other products
Product Description
An all steel Splitting Wedge designed to bust apart the most stubborn of firewood rounds or log lengths.
Product Specification
2 kg in weight, made from Swedish carbon steel, hardened to 56-58 on the Rockwell Scale. Sharpened and ready to go
Additional notes
Drive the wedge into the round either with a Splitting Maul (with a hardened poll) or a sledge hammer. This wedge is twisted and ribbed to force the wood fibers apart reducing the likehood of it getting stuck or bouncing back out.
