Commonly used for squaring logs for structural building timbers and for chopping where a heavier axe is required. Also favoured by hedgelayers to lay large stems
Product Description
This broad axe is based on an old Swedish pattern, with space between the blades beard for the user's fingers. Bevelled on two sides and forged centrally to the handle.

Heads weighs 3Ibs,with a 7" face, 20" 'straight' (no swell knob) hickory handle. Comes with a grain leather sheath and the Axe Book

We find this fairly heavy axe useful to quickly remove stock on bigger bowl blanks.
