Riving Iron
We suggest one way to maintain this tool is not as an edge tool but as a splitting or riving tool, hence why we call it an iron rather than an hook or a knife, so don't sharpen it if this is how you want to use it. However, It comes ground to an edge so it can be used as a lightweight stake pointing tool, bit like a smaller version of the Knighton
If used by Forest School practicioners, we suggest running a file over the edge so it is safe for children to use. We can do this for you FOC, just email to request this.

Product Specification
Total length c.13.5", blade length c. 7.5" Caulked ash handle
Additional notes
We have asked Morris to make this tool for us which is similar to what to they call a kindling knife.
Tool making has been an industry at the Dunsford works in Devon for more than 100 years and in our opinion these tools are far better than anything else on the market, dispite the need sometimes for some final filing and/or honing to remove small manufacturing and grinding work on the edge.
