This is an Alongee Pattern gouge; the blade splays from the shoulder towards the cutting edge

Product Specification
Cutting edge 1.5in ground to 25 degrees, no. 18 sweep. Total length 12 in, beech handle 6" long.
Additional notes
Like all carving tools in the Ashley Iles range this is a hand made tool. Whilst curved carving gouges have a shoulder on them it is best not to bash them with a wooden mallet as the forces can do strange things to the structure of the steel, hand pressure is best.
