Ashley Iles Straight Carving Gouge, 1.25" x 4, unhandled
The shallow no. 4 sweep of this gouge makes it ideal to remove the majority of tool marks left by the bigger sweep of gouges that are best suited for quick removal of wood. Better pushed with hand pressure but can be used with a wooden mallet.

Straight Carving Gouge iron from British tool makers Ashley Iles. Sharpened and honed, ready to use.
Alongee pattern, i.e the blade tapers all the way from the shoulder to the cutting edge
1.25" cuting edge and a very shallow no. 4 sweep.
Just the iron with this one, you will need to make your own handle.

Made from 01 Tool Steel. Total length 8.5". 1.25" edge ground to 25 degrees, no 4 sweep.

It has taken us a while to stock this tool but finally...... here it is from one of our favorite UK tool makers.
Square tang so should be straight forward to handle up.
