Ray Iles 8 1/2" Drawknife, Mike Abbott Pattern
Great all-round drawknife for most green woodworking projects, such as rounding up green wood prior to putting on the pole lathe or shaving down riven lenghts of ash or oak for gates
Product Description
Good all-round general sized drawknife from UK tool maker Ray Iles
Product Specification
Edge length 8 1/2", beech handles are 4" long with brass ferrules.
Edge comes slightly hollow ground which will need a few moments to hone before use
Additional notes
Ray Iles worked with Mike Abbott to modify his standard 8 1/2" drawknife. The esential difference being the tangs on this tool have been bent slightly down. With this modification the handles are always at the same angle. Used bevel down it works best for the rapid removal of wood and concave work or bevel up for slower finer work.
Essential leather sheaths in Veg Tan or Split available.
