Ray Iles Large Froe, unhandled
A froe is often used in conjunction with a cleaving break to split pole material accuratly in half with great control (once the technique has been learnt!). Typically splitting greenwood components for cleft gates or oak shingles
Product Description
A very useable froe, engineered rather than forged with good control, good value. This option allows you fit a handle of your liking. Some people prefer a slightly longer handle or of a different species such as ash. Like any tool this froe has its limits, if you intend working with large tough species such as oak go for the Gransfors Froe or one of the Muller froes
Product Specification
10" blade in high carbon steel '01', tapered eye for easy knocking out of handle (not supplied)
Additional notes
Very precisley engineered tool, feedback from professional users is very good
