Used to hold logs steady whilst working on them, typically used by timber framers and others who work large timbers with axes.
Product Description
Essentially a large staple, holding two logs (or a log and a trestle) at right angles to each other. The pins at either end of the log dog which are driven into the logs are forged to sit in line with the grain.

Additional notes
In November 2012 we were asked to make x6 very large pergola frames from 10" dia. oak with two sides milled off. Gransfors log dogs were essential to hold the heavy oak stems steady on trestles whilst the mortises and tenons were created.
