Good broad edge makes this well suited to turning clean smooth surfaces on green wood. Being so broad means it is less likely to dig in on the corners producing wide shavings.

Additional notes
Because there is no shoulder on the tang of this tool it cannot be stuck with a mallet, as you could on a standard bevel edged chisel
