In the last few years we have taken to using this stone for our own tools, it's very convienient the two grits on one stone, it has a huge surface area and the base is extremly stable. There is a handle underneath the base so it's very safe to take the stone to tools such as drawknives and axes. Sometimes pointed tools such as some knives can catch in the perforations, but this stone has a special continouus diamond zone for such tools
